The Marjosse Rouge 2015 is considered by winemaker Pierre Lurton his absolute favourite to drink right now and one of the best since he bought the property in 1991. Sold out in Europe, it was an instant bestseller upon release. A small allocation from Marjosse's own cellars has been released exclusively to the North American and Brazilian markets. The blend is dominated by merlot, the quintessential Right Bank grape variety (77%), to which Lurton added 14% of cabernet franc, 7% of cabernet sauvignon from his parcels of old vines and a touch of malbec (2%) from a parcel planted at the time of WW II. After a short and cool pre-fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled vats it underwent natural malolactic fermentation - partly in barrels and partly in vats. The wine was aged in 50% new oak barrels. The Wine Cellar Insider: ...one of the top Bordeaux value wines in this vintage and the best vintage produced by Pierre Lurton at Marjosse.
