2016 Domaine de L'A Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

Wines made by winemaking couple Stéphane and Christine Derenoncourt. Both consult for multiple wineries in the region and around the world. The wines are 80:20 Merlot:Cab Franc using biodynamic agriculture. The wines are only released when Stéphane and Christine feel they are ready. JAMES LAWTHER MW FOR JANCIS ROBINSON 16.5: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Aged 18 months in oak barrels (40% new).Garnet hue. Bright and zesty with fragrant, berry-fruit notes on the nose, the palate fresh and invigorating. Juicy fruit and finely honed tannins. Good length and persistence. More finesse and better balance than the 2015. Tasted Jan 2023. Drink till 2028. JAMES SUCKLING 93: Very vibrant and polished aromas with some stony mineral notes across purple fruit. The palate has a plush, even and fresh array of blackcurrants and blueberries. Smooth tannins. Nicely cut.
